Congrats, They Said

Congrats was something I wasn’t ready to accept.

I didn’t picture this as a congratulatory moment.

It’s not the congrats I wanted.

I wanted to stay and fight!

I wanted to make it last forever

I didn’t like the feeling that ran through my bones every time I heard those words.

Congrats they said you’re free!!

Then it hit me like a NYC Subway train head on!!

Congrats I get to dream again

Congrats I get to live again

Congrats I get to start again

Congrats I get to love again

I took their congrats and turned it around!!

Congrats I get to find my strength again!

My divorce gave me a second chance and I’ll take every Congrats that comes my way because I deserve it!!

Congrats, they said!
